VETERANS   EDUCATIONAL   SERVICES

Lori  DeFillippi,  Chairwoman

About the program:

The program consists of Bristol High School American History students visiting the Memorial Boulevard. Factual information pertinent to each of the individual monuments is presented to the students by actual
veterans of the respective eras. Initiated nine (9) years ago this program provides the students with valuable insight and appreciation of the times and experiences of our community’s veterans. Students comprehend a
greater awareness in honoring and remembering our veterans, as well as, connecting students with Veterans who have served and sacrificed so much for this country. Whether it is peacetime or wartime, it is
important to teach our youth that Veteran’s Day means more than just a day off from school.  Patriotism is a value that must be taught and modeled for our young students. The Tribute to Veterans program
provides this sentiment while building the foundation for upcoming generations to be proud and contributing citizens of our country. Each student walks away with a better understanding of our veterans and
hopefully will develop a life long habit to thank those who have served.

In observance of Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2009, we will be conducting our annual Veterans Educational Program, A Tribute to Veterans.

The success of this program would not be possible without the generous support of people and businesses. Contributions provide roundtrip bus transportation and educational booklets for over 750 students and teachers.
